HB 1003 - Kern aims to bring back certificates of non-coverage
Janice Francis-Smith of the Journal Record is reporting from Oklahoma City: Back by popular demand: certificates of non-coverage. State Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma City, would like to reinstate the old CNC program, she said Monday. Whatever problems the program may have had in the past now appear preferable to the current situation, she added.

Kern has authored House Bill 1003, which as filed would exempt businesses with five or fewer employees, all related to the owners, from the Workers’ Compensation Act. Kern said she is working with House staff to draw up a comprehensive bill to deal with the problems very small businesses are experiencing with the workers’ compensation law... |

Oklahoma GOP hopes bills receive new chance
With Republicans controlling both the state Senate and House, some GOP legislators are hoping bills that died this year will get a second chance.
Early bills include one requiring voters to prove their identities at the polls and a bill proponents say would protect students who express religious views in school work.
The religious expression bill, House Bill 1001, filed by Reps. Mike Reynolds and Sally Kern, both Oklahoma City Republicans, is basically the same as the measure that won approval this year in the Senate and House before being vetoed [by the Governor]...

Newt Gingrich: What Every Child Should Know About Thanksgiving
"Second only to Independence Day, Thanksgiving is a uniquely American holiday. And as an American holiday, it is rooted deeply - like our nation - in faith in God.
"The earliest Thanksgivings were celebrated by Americans who were keenly aware that their blessings -- like their rights -- came from God. In times of hardship unimaginable to us today, they took time to give thanks to their Creator..."

Proud to be an Okie…
"Well, folks, the national election didn’t turn out the way I was hoping last night. The far left now has control of the executive and legislative branches of the U.S. government, and are within a heartbeat of controling the judicial branch as well.
But I’m very proud of my fellow Oklahomans. I’d especially like to congratulate John McCain and Sarah Palin (who won in Oklahoma, at least!), Jim Inhofe, John Sullivan, Jeff Cloud, Dana Murphy, Frank Lucas, Tom Cole, Mary Fallin, John Trebilcock, Dan Newberry, Jim Reynolds, Randy Terrill, and Sally Kern." |
