Counting illegal students legislation "A new immigration battle is brewing at Oklahoma's state capitol. Some in the Latino community are voicing concerns over a house bill that would require schools to get proof of citizenship from each of their students. "School districts would be asked to submit an annual report, detailing the number of non-citizen students and describing how that impacts the quality of education provided to legal students...."

Personally, I have believed we should have been more frugal during the past four years.' "She continued, 'Fortunately, our state has done well. But Oklahoma could have been better off on the budget side if we’d been more conscientious the last few years. So, it comes down to this: We're doing a pretty good job in light of the bad economy and the budget but I believe we could do better.'..."
